Claiborne man jailed for illegal burn

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

From WRIL -

Jessie Bolden - CCJ

On Wednesday afternoon November 23, 2022, Claiborne County Deputy Kenneth Ochoa responded to an illegal burn in the vicinity of Snake Hollow.

Once on scene he came in contact with 34-year-old Jessie Bolden who was determined to be intoxicated.

Bolden was taken into custody for conducting an illegal burn that got out of hand. He has been lodged in the Claiborne County Jail charged with setting fire to personal property or land, reckless burning, setting fires at certain times without a permit, leaving a fire near a woodland unattended, and public intoxication. We were initially informed that only one fire department responded, but multiple fire units were on scene due to the size of the fire.

Weather conditions have made the area very dry and susceptible to a risk of rapidly growing wildfires. Local officials are discouraging anyone from burning at this time.

*All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
