From Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson
Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards arrested David Smith age 44 of Dixon Branch on Sunday , January 20, 2019 at approximately 11:40 PM.
The arrest occurred roughly a mile and half South of Manchester when Deputy Brandon Edwards received a complaint of the above named subject that was a suspect in a burglary was at the Marathon in the Garrard area.
Upon arrival of the gas station, Deputy Brandon Edwards made contact with David Smith in which he began to resist and evade arrest on foot running behind Dairy Queen on South Highway 421. Once apprehended the subject was placed under arrest without further incident. David Smith was charged with an Clay County Warrant of Arrest for Burglary 2nd, Theft by unlawful taking- Firearm and Theft by unlawful taking under $500.
He was also charged with Fleeing and evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot) and Resisting arrest.
