Failure to stop for police leads to a fugitive arrest.

From The Lee County Virginia Sheriff's Department-

Major Woodard of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirms that on December 17, 2019 around 1:00 p.m., Officer Jimmy Adair with the Pennington Gap Police Department, attempted to do a traffic stop on North Kentucky Street in the town of Pennington Gap. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and a pursuit occurred.


The vehicle then traveled outside of Pennington Gap onto 421 North toward Kentucky at a high rate of speed, passing multiple vehicles on double yellow lines. The pursuit continued into Kentucky.


Harlan County Sheriff’s office was able to locate the vehicle at a house in their jurisdiction and identified the driver as 20 year old Connor Wiles of Pennington Gap, Va.

Officer Adair has charged Connor Wiles for felony elude, reckless driving, no operator’s license and multiple traffic violations. He is being housed at the Harlan County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to the state of Virginia.


Major Woodard commends Officer Adair, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Harlan County Sheriff’s Office for a quick response and being able to apprehend Wiles.
