Fleeing domestic violence suspect in jail after learning of charges at Bell Circuit Clerk's office

From WRIL - The Big One -

Daniel Mayne - BCDC

A man the subject of a recent manhunt in Bell County is now in custody after he was arrested at the courthouse.

On Wednesday June 7th, 34-year-old Daniel Fred Mayne led law enforcement on a foot chase after his daughter called 911 stating he was strangling his mother at a Pillon Road residence in the Page Community.

Once deputies arrived at the home, Mayne fled out the back of the residence into the woods allegedly armed with a shotgun. Bell County Deputies, Kentucky State Police, and a Middlesboro K-9 officer searched for Mayne at the time, but were unable to locate him.

On Monday June 19th, Mayne was dropped off at the Justice Center to check on an Emergency Protection Order taken out against him by the victim. While at the Circuit Clerks Office, he learned of the charges against him and shortly afterward court security took him into custody. He was booked into the Bell County Detention Center charged with strangulation - 1st degree, terroristic threatening - 3rd degree, and menacing. He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

Deputy Austin Poindexter is in charge of this case.
