Gas theft arrest leads to drug charges

On Thursday, August 1, 2019 Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst investigated a complaint of a gasoline theft from a vehicle at Redneck Customs on Highway 11 south of Barbourville. The perpetrator had drilled a hole in the bottom of the vehicle’s tank to drain the gasoline.


On Sunday August 4, 2019 Deputy Ashurst arrested Joshua Taylor age 26 of Bryants Store, KY charging him with Criminal Mischief-1st Degree in connection with the theft. After conducting a further investigation, Deputy Ashurst located four Suboxone strips, a baggie containing suspected Methamphetamine and several small red baggies commonly used for packaging methamphetamine.


Deputy Ashurst also charged Taylor with Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree, Trafficking in Controlled Substance-3rd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.


Joshua Taylor is also a suspect in other thefts in the Little Poplar area of Knox County, the investigation is continuing by Deputy Ashurst.
