Harrogate man identified in Middlesboro officer-involved shooting

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, there was an officer involved shooting in Middlesboro of a man wanted out of Claiborne County for a previous shooting there.


The Middlesboro incident happened in the Stephen's Branch area and the roadway was shutdown as the critical incident team from KSP gathered evidence. No officers, nor anyone from the community, were injured in the incident.


Kentucky State Police state that the individual was transported by Middlesboro EMS to Middlesboro ARH Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by the Bell County Deputy Coroner Jason Steele.


The Deputy Coroner has returned from the autopsy in Frankfort and tells WRIL that the deceased individual has been identified as 35-year-old Timothy Houston of Harrogate, Tennessee.


Shortly after the incident, Middlesboro Police Chief Michael Orr contacted Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan to handle this investigation.


Until this investigation is concluded, we will defer to the KSP for more information.
