Dennis Jay Hogan pled guilty in the Knox County Circuit Court this morning, January 3.

He pled guilty to one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than two grams) and one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than 10 dosages). Both are class D felonies and carry a one to five year sentence each.

In exchange for Dennis’ guilty plea, the Commonwealth agreed to dismiss the case against his wife, Sherri Hogan. She was indicted on July 27 for first-degree conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance (first offense). As a continued part of the agreement, Sherri agreed to forfeit all seized items from their College Street home.

(WYMT) - Officials say Dr. Sherri Hogan conspired to traffic a controlled substance in the first degree by making plans with and helping someone else.

Dennis Jay Hogan allegedly committed drug trafficking by selling less than 10 doses of Oxycodone to a witness working with the Knox County Sheriff's Department on March 21 of 2018.

Dr. Sherri Hogan worked at the Barbourville ARH Emergency Room, but the hospital says Hogan is not technically their employee.

Barbourville ARH CEO Charles Lovell stated at the time: "We are aware of Hogan's indictment, but she is not technically an employee of Barbourville ARH or ARH," "She was contracted through Schumacher Clinic Partners, which Barbourville ARH does for its E.R. positions. We are making sure, until the court resolves the matter, what our legal responsibilities are."

Both will return to court on February 1 at 1 p.m. for Dennis’ formal sentencing. See next week’s edition of The Advocate for more information on these cases.
