From the Harlan County Sheriff's Department -
On Monday, March 16th Deputies with the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lynch man on Burglary charges. Deputies responded to a complaint of a Burglary at KCEOC in Verda early Monday morning.
Later in the afternoon, a Deputy located the suspect in the Verda area and he fled on foot. With the assistance of Harlan PD and Evarts PD, John Macky was apprehended a short time later. After taking him into custody, Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was also discovered on him.
John Macky, 29, of Lynch was charged with Burglary 1stDegree, Theft By Unlawful Taking ($10,000 or more but under $1,000,000), Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree, Menacing and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
An additional warrant that was obtained by Evarts PD for a Burglary at Evarts Dollar General was also served along with a Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear in Harlan District Court. On Wednesday, a warrant was also obtained and served by KSP as a result of a Burglary investigation at the Evarts Save-A-Lot.
Macky remains lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond currently set at $30,000 cash. The KCEOC burglary remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and additional arrests are pending.
