Middlesboro man arrested after domestic assault and trying to flee out of a window

On Tuesday September 3, 2019 Middlesboro Officers Michael Bradley and Dakota Torstrick responded to a complaint call at Rennie Gayle Homes in regard to a domestic issue of two people arguing inside a residence.


Once on scene the officers discovered that 37 year old Troy Evan Bates had assaulted his girlfriend. Upon seeing the officers, Bates attempted to flee through the bathroom window, but was apprehended a short time later.


Troy Bates was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with assault 4th degree – domestic violence – minor injury, fleeing or evading police – 1st degree (on foot), bail jumping – 2nd degree, and failure to appear in court. He was also served two bench warrants, one for criminal mischief – 2nd degree and probable probation violation.


He is being held without bond.
