On Wednesday night November 15, 2023, a large pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of Sleep Inn Hotel just off Highway 25E. Responding to the scene to begin the investigation was Middleboro Officer Wyatt Rossi and Lt./Detective Barry Cowan.

The following night, Thursday the 16th, two suspects - male and female - used that same truck at First State Bank of the Southeast in an attempt to steal the ATM. After a thorough investigation Lt. Cowan determined the whereabouts of the suspects on Tuesday afternoon November 21st and followed them from a hotel in London, Ky. to the city’s Walmart. During surveillance of the suspects, the woman was seen by Lt. Cowan shoplifting. Cowan then contacted the London Police Department for assistance at the store, and the woman, identified as 22-year-old Teriyona Baker of Houston, Texas, was arrested.

Baker was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center charged with Criminal Mischief – 1st degree, Auto theft $10,000 or more but under $1,000,000, and shoplifting. Additional charges for Baker are pending and police anticipate charges on the male suspect.
