Middlesboro Police stop speeding vehicle leading to 4 arrests for over a pound of Cocaine

MPD Dispatcher Butch Wilson, Officer Morgan Justice, and Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson

Early Saturday morning September 10, 2022, Middlesboro officer Morgan Justice initiated a traffic stop on a gold Ford Focus traveling south on Highway 25E at a high rate of speed. Officer Justice also determined the vehicle had improper registration.


The operator of the vehicle was 37-year-old Gregory Reed of New Tazewell, Tn. accompanied by passengers 32-year-old Gary Lemon of Knoxville, 24-year-old Aaron Payne of Tazewell, and 35-year-old Sarah Feerer of New Tazewell.


During the stop, Officer Justice discovered Marijuana inside the vehicle which lead to a further search of both the vehicle and occupants. Officer Justice along with Lt. Clay Hurd, Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, and Officer Caleb Ayers found approximately 1 lb 3 ounces of a white powdery substance believed to be Cocaine. Also discovered were numerous paraphernalia which indicated trafficking of the substance.

All four occupants were placed under arrest and charged with trafficking controlled substance – 1st degree – (Cocaine), trafficking in Marijuana less than 8 ounces, and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.


Gregory Reed was additionally charged with speeding 60 mph over the limit, operating on a suspended license, no insurance, no insurance card, improper registration, and no registration plates.
