On Thursday night January 14, 2021 at approximately 9:25 pm Middlesboro Police responded to an incident that initially started at the parking lot of Village Square Mall in regard to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The caller stated to dispatch that they had taken the injured male to a residence on 23rd Street in an attempt to treat him and were going to take him to the hospital. Before the individual could leave with the victim, Sgt. Barry Cowan and Middlesboro EMS arrived on scene finding a male suffering from a gunshot.
Middlesboro EMS readied the male for transport and took him to Middlesboro ARH Hospital emergency room where he died from his wound.
Sgt. Cowan is in charge of this investigation. Foul play is not suspected.
