One of two people wanted in connection to a December 22, 2019 shooting incident is now in custody in the Bell County Detention Center.
On that Sunday night March 1, 2020 at approximately 8:30pm Middlesboro Police responded to a report of a shooting at Cumberland Village Apartments.
Video footage from the incident showed that two people identified as 22 year old Katelynn Boatright and 20 year old Timothy Hunter Cole both of Middlesboro had handguns and were shooting at each other multiple times, but no one was injured.
When officers Officers Jeremiah Johnson, Dakota Torstrick, Chris Barnes and Sgt. Kenny Vanover arrived on scene they found empty shell casings on the ground from a handgun and retrieved the handgun Hunter Cole fired during the shootout.
At the time a Be On the Lookout was issued for the Chevy Cruze that Boatright had fled the scene in with another male. Middlesboro Police announced on December 23rd that warrants for Cole and Boatright were going to be issued.
Weeks later, Boatright was apprehended in Claiborne County by the Sheriff’s Department for outstanding Tennessee warrants. The Cruze was towed used in the Kentucky incident, but due to Boatright not being extradited she was able to post bond for those charges.
Wednesday March 5, 2019 Officer Johnson arrested Katelynn Boatright on Exeter Avenue after serving a criminal complaint warrant for attempted murder, wanton endangerment – 1st degree, disorderly conduct – 2nd degree, and she was also served a failure to appear bench warrant which has no bond.
Side note: The Jailtracker system used by Bell County Detention Center has Boatright booked in under a charge of “murder” but it is showing that charge because there is not a code for “attempted murder”.
