On Monday morning October 5, 2020 a Middlesboro retrieved a stolen vehicle and arrested Middlesboro man in connection with the theft.

Sgt. Barry Cowan states in a citation that an individual reported his 1990 Ford Ranger stolen from his apartment on north 25th street at approximately 4:19pm on Sunday the 4th. A be-on-the-lookout was then issued by Middlesboro Dispatch.

The truck was then seen on a short time before 11:30 on Monday on Highway 25E northbound near Walmart by an individual familiar with the vehicle, the victim, and who knew it to be stolen. The individual pulled up beside the truck and called Middlesboro Dispatch to report the sighting.

The driver of the truck, later identified as 37- year-old Justin Davis, was then followed by the individual to Sam’s Transmission where he pulled over and stopped to repair a van he later claims broke down. A short time afterward Sgt. Cowan arrived on scene taking Davis into custody for the theft. A search of the van revealed tools of the victims’ that had been in the stolen truck.

Justin Davis was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000.
