From Sampson Churchwell of the BCVFD
On Thursday night, January 24, 2019 at approximately 11:30pm the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident with possible entrapment on Highway 119 in the Tanyard Hill area of Bell County.
Once fire units was on scene they determined there were two patients in the vehicle, one was able to exit the vehicle while the other was trapped inside. Fire units began extrication to get the patient out of the vehicle.
While fire personnel were extricating the patient out of the vehicle, Air Evac was contacted to transport the patient due to the injuries. Air Evac was requested to land around the ten mile marker on Highway 119, but was unable to do so because of poor lighting and weather issues. The air service diverted the landing zone to Southeastern Kentucky Medical Center in Pineville.
BCVFD responded with two trucks SR1 and CH1 and 10 fire units. BCVFD was assisted in extrication by the Bell County Rescue Squad. Also assisting on scene was Bell county EMS, Bell County Rescue Squad and Kentucky State Police.
