Tower Road Shooting in Knox County Ky update

A Knox County man shot Monday June 24, 2019 during a physical altercation at a residence near Corbin, is out of the hospital and in the Knox County Detention Center.

37year old Albert Lee France, of Cannon, is facing charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.


Knox County Sheriff's deputies were called to the residence on Ky. 3436 (Liberty-Wilton Road), near the intersection with Tower Road at approximately 4:15 p.m. in response to a report that a man had been shot.

Deputy William Stewart, the department's public affairs officer, said the male subject, identified as France, was found walking along the roadway with a single gunshot wound to the left shoulder.

Stewart when on to say "it was a domestic situation," explaining that France had initially assaulted a male at the residence with an unidentified object. France then allegedly attempted to assault the female with the object, at which point she shot him with a .22-caliber handgun.


France was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin and later transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. After being treated for the gunshot and released, he was taken into custody and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon.


France's bond has been set at $25,000 cash.
