Trial set for man facing sexual related charges involving minor

A Flat Lick man facing sexual-related charges involving a minor is set to face trial in October following a pretrial conference on Friday in Knox Circuit Court.


55 year old Lavern Gray is facing charges for giving a teenage female drugs before engaging in sexual intercourse with her, according to the three-count indictment he was named in last year.


On Friday August 23rd a trial was set for 9 a.m. October 14 with a final pretrial date set for 9 a.m. October 3.


The decision to set the trial date was made due to the fact that DNA evidence was returned.

Gray was indicted in June of 2018 by a Knox County grand jury. He was named in the three-count indictment for charges that occurred May 6, according to the indictment.


According to the victim’s birth date in the indictment, the victim was under the age of 15 at the time of the incident. He faces one count of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree sodomy and one count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.


Gray remains jailed in the Knox County Detention Center under a $200,000 cash bond.
