On Tuesday, March 15th 2022, 55 -year-old Scott Stiner, of Luttrell TN was taken into custody in Mendocino, California. The apprehension of Stiner was a result of a lengthy investigation into his whereabouts to answer for charges in Union County.
After exhausting all means to locate the subject locally, Detective Daniel Runions with the Union County Sheriffs Office, also attached to the U.S. Marshals Service, began his investigation which led him to Mendocino, CA.
Using media and communication outlets, this led Detective Runions to contact the San Francisco division of the U.S. Marshals with information to assist in the investigation.
On Tuesday the 15th, Detective Runions received information that Mr. Stiner was spotted at a particular residence in Mendocino. Detective Runions contacted the local police department to follow up on the lead and they were able to take Stiner in custody without incident.
Scott Stiner is currently awaiting extradition from California to Tennessee for 5 counts of aggravated sexual battery and 2 counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor.
