UPDATE - Two people identified that were killed in a Laurel County crash

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office two individuals died a result of a two-vehicle crash in Laurel County Monday night July 1, 2019 with numerous others injured.


Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling has identified the victims as 38 year old Jamie Gilliam, principle of Johnson Elementary School in London and 21 year old James Dylan Johnson of Clay County. They were both operating the vehicles. Johnson was the only person in his vehicle.


Gilliam's husband and the couple's three children were also in the vehicle, two of which were flown to a hospital. Her husband was transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital London.


Laurel Sheriff’s Detective/ reconstructionist Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards along with Deputy Brad Mink assisted by numerous deputies are investigating the two-vehicle, double fatal traffic crash on Old Way Road approximately three miles east of London on Monday night at approximately 9:31 p.m.


The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue squad, Laurel County volunteer fire department, London Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner’s office.
