Speedwell man arrested for $5,000 fishing gear theft in Middlesboro

Jasper Lovin - CCJ

On Friday April 19, 2024, Middlesboro Police Department Officer John Kinder responded to a theft of fishing rods and reels valued at $5,000 dollars.


Through Officer Kinder’s investigations he was able to determine that 36-year-old Jasper Lovin of Speedwell, Tennessee was involved in the theft.


Officer Kinder and Lt./Detective Barry Cowan traveled to Speedwell and were able to recover all of the stolen property at a residence. Officer Kinder issued a complaint warrant for Lovin and he has been arrested by the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department and is waiting extradition to Kentucky.
